Five Good Things From The Week #7

Saturday 17 February 2018

reusing old pics bc yes I haven't got round to taking any more hahaha

You'd be right in thinking I did unintentionally take two weeks off from this lil space on the internet here - I stress the word unintentional! This was never supposed to happen but then my blogging breaks never are supposed to happen, they just do because life starts pitching the curveballs and this is just one that I sometimes can't catch.

There's not really been much going on in the last few weeks but there has been one massive curveball which I'm not going to go into in detail because it involves another person which has led to a very very emotional and up and down two weeks and to a certain extent I'm still trying to juggle with it! But onwards and upwards is what I'm saying. I've been really busy with uni work and reading and still have another three books to read for next week so that's what I'm cracking on with today and tomorrow. I've also had a trapped nerve in my right arm since Saturday which comes from squashing the radius nerve in my back by squatting with a 50kg barbell without a pad...Don't follow my example, kids, it's bad. The good news is the entire arm now feels very normal again and it's just my palm and first three fingers that are still feeling weird. It's like pins and needles but all the time, very strange feeling indeed.

But anyway, onto the five good things rather than complaining about the bad. I'm a firm believer that life is what you make it - plaster a smile on and fight through the bad and concentrate on the positives and life is so, so much better and brighter.

01 // I've spent another lovely week at home this week because it was Reading Week and it coincided with half term so I thought I'd go home and work at the place I was at last summer as it's really popular during half term. Four eight hour shifts later and I'm exhausted but I've got a bit more money in the bank and it was lovely to be back. I do really enjoy my job, believe it or not! Spending time with the family today and tomorrow before I go back to Manchester which is always good. My mum is still having a bit of a rough time so lots of snuggles are in order!

02 // I got my first big piece of writing coursework back and the feedback was so much better than I was expecting! It was from my harshest tutor as well so the praise I received was greatly appreciated. Another 2:1 in the bag makes a happy Em.

03 // Strangely I'm looking forward to going back to Manchester tonight. I've never felt like this when I've been at home before and there's definitely no convincing needed from the parents this time. It's a good feeling to have another place I can call home now and while it's an unfamiliar feeling it's definitely one I'm really enjoying.

04 // I'm actually really loving one of my course books?! This never happens. But as it happens, I'm discovering that Trumpet by Jackie Kay is actually a really good and interesting read and would highly recommend.

05 // I ate the best pizza last night from my aunt's homemade woodfired pizza oven. Sounds like such a typical Southern thing I know but honestly you haven't lived until you've tried those pizzas. Slowly getting my relationship with food back to a healthier place and it does feel really good. I might talk a bit about this in the future if anyone's interested!

What are five good things from your week?

Em xx
